Dr Wood is a Neurosurgeon who was at the forefront of the development of minimally invasive spinal surgery back in the early 2000s, and he has been a pioneer of these techniques in Australia. He has worked over the years to develop the integration of surgical navigation technology and intraoperative imaging in minimally invasive techniques, with the goal of enhancing surgical efficiency and accuracy, thereby maximising safety and improving outcomes for patients. He has published extensively on keyhole spinal surgery in the medical literature, and has been active in teaching the surgical techniques to surgical colleagues in Australia and overseas. He has performed more than 1000 keyhole spinal surgical procedures.
