With a strong interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, Dr Amato undertook a fellowship at the prestigious Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge in the United Kingdom. This was combined with a fellowship in skull base surgery and minimally invasive endoscopic skull base surgery. Dr Amato has a special interest in minimally invasive cervical decompression surgery using a navigated foraminotomy technique. Extensive use of minimally invasive techniques includes MIS discectomy, MIS far lateral discectomy, MIS decompression for spinal canal stenosis and MIS Posterior and Lateral lumbar fusion surgery using image guided navigation and neural monitoring. As part of the MIS team at BCNC, Dr Amato is involved in the post Fellowship training of spine surgeons with an interest in minimally invasive techniques
